Intro
VASIMR stand for Variable-Specific-Impulse Magnetoplasma Rocket. It is a type of electric propulsion that is efficient over a large range of specific impulses. This allows propellant efficiency to be exchanged for thrust. It is a marginal improvement over ion propultion in terms of thrust but will allow much faster transit times if improved methods of powering the VSIMR engine can be found.
