Category:Spacecraft and Launch Vehicles

From NewMars

Launch Vehicles include any rocket or other type of vehicle capable of reaching an altitude of 100km - the arbitrarily defined limit of outer space. Sounding rockets, suborbital vehicles, and rockets for orbital launch all fall into this category.

While many functional satellites can be accurately referred to as a spacecraft (being steerable craft that travel in orbital paths through outer space), it is convenient to restrict use of the term to those vehicles that actually carry crews and/or payloads separable from the vehicle itself. Thus, most manned vehicles and cargo vehicles would be "spacecraft" in this limited definition, while most weather satellites would not.
