The commercial launch providers listed here have been limited to commercial space launch providers - companies which will launch payloads into space (>100km) on sounding rockets, suborbital launch vehicles, or orbital launch vehicles. These companies are not government space agencies, and either have successful launch systems in active service or have standing launch contracts for a working prototype launch system.

In principle, a commercial customer can contact these providers and arrange a space launch for their payload without having to wait or pay for launch vehicle development.
