Re: The American Caesar

This is a reoccuring nightmare. What if an extreme leftwinger who hates America manages to get himself elected President because he was the only other choice to someone who's associated with an unpopular sitting President thanks in part to a left-wing media bias?

In a protest vote against the Party that is currently in the White House, this left-winger gets elected, he talks about cutting the US military, and meeting with Castro, Hugo Chavez, the President of Iran, his friend is a terrorist, another mentor is a preacher who curses "G*d D*mn America!" and the media desirous of getting this guy elected simply glosses over this stuff and covers only this guy's message of "Hope" and "Change".

The new President takes his oath of office, and he immediately goes about firing generals and putting in political appointees that have no military experience, he talks about pulling out of Europe, and implementing some policies that are similar to Hugo Chavez, and massive tax increases on the upper income people, subsidizing gas prices and nationalizing all the US Oil companies. The generals in the Pentagon are very worried about this new man in the Oval Office. One general in particular emerges as their new leader, a very popular man, and in a very nearly bloodless coup, he assumes the rank of a new "American Caesar".

This is a worrisome development, and I'm not sure what I would do if such a thing were to come to pass. I would choose what I though was the lesser of two evils, but which is the lesser of two evils? What if the American Caesar, was a popular, honest, and forthright man, who simply took power because he felt he had no other choice as he was afraid of what this President Elect would do to his country?

What effect would this New American Empire have on the World? Would Castro be concerned about when the other shoe drops? Would terrorists have to change their tactics? Would they even stand a chance?

What would you do if this American Caesar quadrupled NASA's budget and renamed the organization NASF (The National Aero-Space Force) and put generals in charge? What if he fast-tracked development of the Ares I and V boosters and made plans for the first human footprint on Mars by 2019 and the first Moonbase as well?

I hope it never come to pass, but there are some temptations here, the effect on long term American democracy and freedom would be detrimental, but would it be any less so under a duly elected Communist/Socialist President who along with his majority party goes about rewriting the US Constitution through the Amendment process so as to insulate himself from the will of the people as Hugo Chavez and Putin have done?

I'll wait for people's opinions on this subject and then comment further.

Re: The American Caesar

first,  would like to ask if you really hate the American Democratic Party and Barack Obama that much, there seemed to be references to both of them there.

America has to fall some day, nothing lasts forever.  Ethnocentrism, the belief that your country is better than everyone else's, is usually a clear indicator that your country is heading towards history's laundry basket.

The American Republican Party seems to preach this continuously.

Re: The American Caesar

Why can't we just put John McCain in?

What you're saying sounds like the sort of thing [in structure] you hear from every media corpration or political party.

Edit. Realized Something.

If you think Tom was refering to Barack Osama - I mean, Obama - then your accepting what Toms saying about him is true.

Re: The American Caesar

No, I merely accept that that may be his beleif, and that he is putting the worst negative spin on it.  Personally, I think America will be gone by 2350 no matter who we vote for.  The 'Golden Age' is already gone.

Read the whole thing.  It's very interesting, but apply it to the current world.

Re: The American Caesar

As much of an Obamanation the US would become if Obama were elected, I think setting precedent of using military coups to right the errors of the electorate and the parties alike would be far worse in the long run. If one general can take it upon himself to defend and uphold the Constitution, all of them can. That the Constitution can be taken in so many different ways by people still considered sane means we got to sit down clarify it. 200+ years is a good run, but its like underwear, if people keep stretching it like they have, sooner or later its no longer going to perform its original function.

What I think we are seeing the slow unraveling of the two entrenched superpower parties. Just look at the number of people dissatisfied with their parties nominee. And then look at the number of people who think both partys are only interested scheming for power. I think your eventually going to see both current parties splintered to the point were there is a single, nationalist supermajority, with what is left of each of the hippy communists, and corporate autocrats taking maybe 15% from either side.

Sedition and conspiracy to commit high treason boiling beneath every word.  Go ahead and document your criminal intent here.  It'll make the job of the Black Panther Brigades easier.

(Actually the Democratic party is looking so dysfunctional they'll be lucky to nominate a candidate let alone win the general roll)

Re: The American Caesar

I find your posts alarming and funny at the same time. Your uninformed and extremely crazy views that has no foundation on reality never ceases to amaze me. But you have to be careful. Obama is being guarded by a lot of white SS officers. They might break your door in and arrest you.

He thinks the democratic party are unpatriotic.

Because uhm lets seee..... uhm. Oh yeah. He's exactly like Bush.

In a party game I once participated. Players imitate certain people so that their friend could guess who the player was talking about. My partner imitated a guy who was speaking highly of his leader. I guessed Hitler does that make me a Nazi? Black Nazi maybe? That would be disturbingly cool and funny.
